Smokey Pink And Brown Toned Eye Makeup Tutorial

Smokey Pink & Brown Toned Makeup Tutorial

Hello everyone I hope you're all well and today I have my first ever proper makeup tutorial for you to recreate and wear with just a few simple steps. I think this look is perfect for a day time casual wear or you could wear it to a party, a date or any kind of evening event. I absolutely love this look because in my opinion, pink and pinky toned shades compliment any eye colour, especially blue shaded eyes like mine. I find for me pink is just such a girly and flattering colour. So if you want to know how to get this eye look, please keep on reading.

Step 1 everyone is to apply your base as normal but if I'd have shown you that, this would've gone on all night. But I used my everyday makeup right now which is: Collection's Primed & Ready makeup primer, Rimmel London's Lasting Finish foundation in Ivory, Rimmel London's Wake Me Up concealer in Ivory, Rimmel London's Stay Matte powder in Transparent due to my foundation being too orange toned, and finally my brown pencil from Primark in the shade Brown.

From the image, I look extremely pale, but in real life it isn't as pale as it is showing. It is just due to the lighting in my room.

Now for this look you will need the MUA Luxe range and the pallet called 'Pretty Edgy' which is such a beautiful pallet. If you want to see swatches and more about this pallet, look at my post below as I hauled it because I bought it yesterday!

We're only using three colours to achieve this look which are: Antique, Bow and Flounce.

(Antique - the white shimmer shade)
(Bow - the pink shimmer shade)
(Flounce - the brown toned shimmer shade)

Now that we've got our pallet and colours, step 2 is to apply Bow all across the lid on a flat eyeshadow brush. Due to it being quite shimmery and sheer I think I applied the colour over the lid about 3-4 times to get a better pink pay off.

Now that we've applied Bow all across our lids, we're now taking our brown toned colour called Flounce and following the our outer lash line. Almost as if you are apply a winged eyeliner effect but instead were using eyeshadow; and I am using an angled eye shadow brush to create this. Also, take it slightly above the pink but not completely into the crease. (as you can see above)

We've got our basic outer line and now we're blending it to make it less harsh but also to create that smokey effect. You also want to take it more into the crease and stop when there is only 1/3 of your eyelid left and just leave that pink. To create the smokey effect I am just taking some more brown on that angled brush and colouring the outer V that I have created on my eyelid. I also took the pink shade Bow and blended it up to where the brown shade Flounce ended. The reason you must do this is because the key to a smokey eye is for it to look all blended and seamless; one colour beautifully flows into another.

The next step is really up to all of you as it takes a bit of time because to create a smokey effect you have to keep blending the two colours together until you are happy with the way it looks. But all I did was I took the two colours on the same flat eyeshadow brush I used for the pink shade Bow and I dipped in both Bow and Flounce and gently blended near the outer V where both the colours meet. Keep doing this step until you are happy with how the blending of the colours look.

Eventually, you will get a pink and brown toned eye that looks like this. To add more of a smokey effect I took both shades, Bow and Flounce, and blended it underneath my lower lash line on the same flat eye shadow brush. Now using the last colour, I am taking Antique which is a beautiful white frost shimmery shade and I used this as my inner corner highlight. But I took it slightly along the lower lash line and blended it into the pink. Also I took it above over the pink where the pink meets the brown just to make everything above the crease look blended and soft. I'm sorry if that was hard to understand as it is quite hard to explain, but I hope the picture above helps you to see what I mean.

Now everyone, your eye makeup is pretty much complete. Whe you are happy with all the blending and the colour pay off. Just do any clean up around the edges of your eyeshadow to make it look the same on each eye. What I mean by this is take your powder colour on an angled eyeshadow brush and perfect the shade you want. Personally, I always have to do that step because my eye makeup is always to far our or not the same shape because I am a messy eyeshadow person normally. Now all that is left to do for your eyes is apply your favourite mascara.

The mascara I use is Collection's Volumising Mascara 10x and to get the best effect I start off by applying upwards and using the head of the brush to make sure my eyelashes on the outer part of my eye are long and dark. But to get the more false lash effect, after going up with the brush once. I brush all my eyelashes down with the mascara brush and then go back up to get the best effect. (which you can see in image 3 above)

We are just one more step away from having a finished looked so you can go out for the day or party etc. Now you don't have to pair it with this specific colour, I just fancied a girly pink lip. You could pair this with red if you really wanted to, I probably would for a party pair this with a red lip. But for a day time look, you could go for something like I've done.

So to make sure the lipstick applies smoothly and not cracked on my lips I just prep them with some Vaseline. (picture one)

Secondly, I outline my lips with a small lip brush and the lipstick colour I am using which is Collection's lipstick in Sweet Tart. I just outline all the way round my lips and then fill in the middle with the actual lipstick. (picture two)

Finally, I apply some lipgloss in a colour that matches the lipstick. The lipgloss I used was one from Colour Couture and it was just a bright medium girly pink, pretty much exactly the same as the lipstick. The lip gloss step is optional, I just prefer glossy lips to matte. (picture three)

And everyone, that is the finished look as you can see above! I really love this look, I think it is really easy and simple to do. If you don't have the colours I used specifically you can choose your own or similar ones to the shades I used. As you can see I don't contour my face as I just don't like to and nor do I bronze. I also didn't use a blush because I didn't want to, but if you want to wear a blusher you absolutely can and of course you can bronze and contour your face if you wish. I think I am going to do another look using the 'Pretty Edgy' pallet but one that would definitely be for an evening event.

Thank you all so much for reading and if you do this look or recreate this look tag my Instagram: @katiej0hnson or if my twitter: @omfgitskatiej as I would love to see all your own ways of creating this look. I hope you all have a wonderful day and are enjoying your half term, if you are having a relaxing week off. Lots of love and hugs!

Bye for now,

Collective Haul: Newlook, Superdrug, Sainsburys, and H&M

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! I hope you are all well and are very happy that you are all on half term now! The next post I do will probably be my Katy Perry concert post, but I need to make sure I have everything for that!

This haul wasn't planned, it's just recently I have been buying a lot of clothes and other items and I thought what a perfect opportunity to do a haul for you guys!

Superdrug

The first item I got from Superdrug was some new Stay Matte powder in the shade 001 which is Translucent. This shade isn't my actual match for my foundation colour, I usually use 003 which is Peach Glow. But the foundation I am currently using it too orange toned for my skin and a friend of mine suggested buying a really light Stay Matte powder and it should tone down the orange edges. So I thought I would buy this one as the foundation I have is Rimmel's Lasting Finish in Ivory but it is still too orange even though it's the second lightest. But also, I needed a new powder, so I got this one. (£3.99)

To lead on from the first item, this is the foundation I am talking about. I didn't get this today or this week, I got it about a nearly two weeks ago. Besides it being slightly too orange toned for my skin, I love love love this foundation so much! It isn't too thick or thin, it has amazing coverage, you can wear it without powder or concealer if you truly wanted to, it covers redness and blemishes, makes your skin feel soft and look beautiful, and finally, it just makes your skin look like actual skin. As sometimes the foundations I've had in the past have made my skin look awful and too cakey and thick... (you get the gist). This foundation is only cakey if you put way too much powder on through the day. But finally, my favourite thing about this foundation is it lasts for hours and hours. I wore it to Katy Perry last week and from dancing and jumping around I was slightly sweaty on my head and it didn't move an inch. I could talk about it all day, but if you want a good coverage foundation that isn't too expensive, go and buy this one from Rimmel! (£7.99)

I also got this nearly two weeks ago when I bought my new foundation because I had been living off no BB Cream and literally the tiniest bit of concealer that was left over. Therefore, I was in desperate need of a new concealer asap! But my usual one from Collection, they had none in the store, they've literally had none of that concealer in my shade for about a month and half now. So I decide to get this one as everyone says its amazing and it is really good! I'm really impressed with it. It's nice because if I didn't use matte powder over the top it gives a nice glow to your cheeks and nose etc. Therefore, you don't need to use a highlighting powder or cream if you have this in your makeup collection! (I think it was £6.99)

Next item is a new gelly nail polish from Barry M in the shade Sugared Apple. It isn't completely true to its colour in the picture, but it is a blue/pastel green colour. It is official my new favourite colour is mint green and pastel green (and obviously pink still) because every year in the spring I become obsessed with the colour more and I've bought a lot of green clothes recently etc. I have a darker mint green polish and a lighter one, currently wearing that right now, but I havent got a bluey green pastel mint colour. So, I thought this was perfect for spring/summer! (£3.99)

The next item I bought is for whenever it is sunny because I am so bad at tanning. I am really not the most summery person in the world. So many people say they love summer, but for me it is a love/hate relationship. As I love the fact that my friends and I can go out more because the days are nicer and we can stay out for longer but if it is too hot I cannot physically take it. I also can't physically lay out in the sun for hours to get a tan as I feel like it's more of a chore and I am not doing it for enjoyment. Also, the majority of the time I burn or just tan on my shoulders which is why I bought some tanning oil as people say it helps you tan quicker. So fingers crossed it works for me! (£3.99)

Finally from Superdrug I bought the Pretty Edgy from MUA! I have been dying to get this pallet for so long and now I finally have it in my existence! For starters, the packaging is just beautiful. It is a nice little pallet with studs on and you could easily take it on holiday because it has all the colours you could need inside: from highlighting colours to dark night out colours.

Here are the swatches of the colours and they are so pigmented and beautiful. They go from really light and shimmery to dark and matte.

(from the top of my hand down to my arm)

Envy (black shade)
Wrath (purple-ish shade)
Gothic (deep brown shade)
Sinful (light purple/pink shade)
Lace (dark purple shade)
Flounce (gold shade)
Ruffle (grey/silver shade)
Tolie (light pink shade)
Bow (pink-gold shade)
Antique (white silver/ highlighting shade)
This is what the inside of the pallet looks like (yes I know the one on the end is a little bit damaged, but either way it'll get used so it doesn't bother me)

But along the top row is all your shimmery shades: Antique, Bow, Tolie, Ruffle, Flounce and Lace.

Then along the bottom row is all the matte shades: Sinful, Gothic, Wrath and Envy.

I am so excited to use this pallet and I think I am going to do a few makeup looks for all of you if you would like me too!

(£8.00)

Newlook

First item from Newlook is this cute sky top with ruffle bits at the end, I got this recently and I absolutely love it! Perfect top for simmer to go with jeans and shorts. I think it'd look best with high waisted things as it isn't super long but I really love how it looks when you're actually wearing it. (£12.99)

The next item I have is just another black cardigan, nothing super special because I think every girl should have a plain black cardigan to wear all the time. You can wear it with anything, I usually just whack them on during any part of the year to go with something or for that extra bit of coverage or for that extra bit of warmth. (£12.99)

Thirdly, I have my second kimono to add to my clothing collection. I have another one which I wore to Katy Perry, also from Newlook, which is really floral, bright and summery. Whereas this one is a bit more toned down, still has a beautiful pattern, but I could probably wear this one in summer and autumn. Where as the other one I have is definitely for spring and summer. I haven't worn this yet but I can't wait to because the minute I saw it I fell in love with it! (£19.99)

Finally from Newlook are my new favourite shoes! I adore these, they are in the colour mint green (obviously) and they are so comfy and really gorgeous shoes for summer! You can get these in all different colours: black, white, beige, green, pink, yellow, red, denim blue, and normal blue. I really want to get some more similar to them, but I have no idea what colour!
(£9.99)

Sainsburys

This is my new favourite thing of all time! This is a fluffy, long, warm and snuggly dressing gown and it was in the sale from £18.00 down to £9.00, therefore I had to buy it! I wore it last night for the first time and it is so comfy and it doesn't make you feel overly hot. But it is definitely more ideal for winter. But as I have a pretty bad cold at the moment, this was a perfect and needed item to buy to keep me cosy and well. Not to mention, the nicest and comfiest dressing gown I've ever owned. (£18.00 down to £9.00)

Secondly, some new underwear! For me, I can never have enough underwear as I have so much of it but I wear the same underwear all the time, so whenever I get new panties these days it is literally a god send. (top to bottom) I got some with flowers on, anchors, and then just dots and lace. I have so much lace underwear and frilly panties etc. I just love cute underwear, okay?
(£3.50 singly or 3 for £8.00)

Lastly from Sainsburys, I got this new book called: No-one Ever Has Sex On A Tuesday and it is not all about Sex! It is about two people called Katy and Matthew who are childhood sweethears who end up having sex together after a school reunion. All is forgotten until eight months down the line when they meet again at an antenatal class.

I am really into romance linking books because I find I don't get bored of them easily, (I must be a romantic at heart) but I am excited to read this once I finish The Fault In Our Stars. If you haven't read The Fault In Our Stars I recommend it, it is so inventively written and it's a lovely story and I love the way it is written and the language used.

H&M

This is the last item of this medium sized haul. It is a cardigan/kimono with 3/4 length sleeves. Now, the thing I love the most about this is the fact that it is a completely summer item as it is just something you can slip on with anything for a little bit of an eye catcher or if it is sunny but it's not super hot and you just want a bit more protection and to be covered up.

cardigan

But my favourite thing about this is it's pattern, I love how it is white and a lace flower effect. I just think it is really nice to wear with jeans, shorts, skirts, dresses etc. It is eye catching but not too overpowering to be too much for an outfit.

That's it for now everyone, I hope you enjoyed my haul! And are having a lovely half term. I shall speak to you very soon! Bye for now my lovelies! Loads of love and hugs;

WHAT I GOT FOR MY 17th BIRTHDAY!

Hello everyone! It has nearly been 2 weeks since it was my birthday (it was on the 7th of May) and I am sorry this has taken so long to post but I've been busy with college deadlines, went to see Katy Perry last week etc. Mainly the fact I didn't have every present from friends so I thought might as well wait until they could get them to me etc. But we are finally here and I do have some good things coming to you soon! Fingers crossed I find times to post them, anyway, here is what I got for my 17th birthday!

1. Mandarin Turq Jewellery

I got this set of beautiful matching jewellery from my mum and dad; this was the first present I opened. I absolutely love this jewellery and it's from Accesorize which is my favourite jewellery store as they have lovely items and they're not too expensive. But I love the colour and the design as it's turquoise which is one of the colours that really suit me and I am so happy that I got these!

2. Accesorize Nail Varnish

Next up are these nail varnishes from Accesorize also from mum and dad. I really love these because there is different colours for every season and occasion! I'm not sure how long they last without chipping as I didn't wear a base coat with one of the first time I wore one of the colours.

Top row: Mint Whisper, Idol & Celebrate.
Middle row: Ivory Lace, Coralicious & Paparazzi.
Bottom row: Indigo, Storm & Sugared Lilac.

3. Newlook Bag

Close up of the pattern

Inside the bag
This is the first bag I got and I asked for it a few months ago and I am so happy I've got it! I absolutely love everything about it: it's size, the pattern, the looks of it etc. For a small bag it is also quite spacious inside and you'd probably have enough room to fit notebooks inside and stuff etc. It also comes with a strap if you wanted it as a satchel but I find that weird if there is already proper handbag straps on bags, so I most likely will not use the strap. But cannot wait to use this bag this summer!

4. Dorothy Perkins Denim Shorts

These have got to be my favourite item of clothing at the minute, I don't wear them out all the time at the moment as the weather is still a bit unpredictable. However, when I come home and it's warm or if it is not cold I will just slip these on because these are extremely comfy which is quite a shock for denim shorts as I can usually wear them out but can't lounge around in denim shorts because they're tight when I sit down. But, these ones are super stretchy and not tight at all, they're stretchy on the legs and the waist which means they are easy to move in. You could probably do anything in them: go out, exercise etc. Also I love the detailing on the belt straps, I just think the braided denim is a really lovely piece of texture and makes the shorts a little more unique.

5. Now 87

Okay, I don't have loads to say about this because I just like getting all the Now albums to play in the car as I love listening to current songs in the car over the radio. As I hate all the adverts on the radio and half the time they don't play songs I like (well, the radio station that my mum and dad listen to don't) but I just prefer to listen to these kinda CDs in the car because it's a mix of artists etc.

7. Newlook Underwear

I love getting new underwear because when I get new underwear I usually wear the same ones all the time as I grow out of them quickly as they get tight and worn etc. But all of these are really cute and comfy and I really like them!

8. Frozen

Originally I wasn't too bothered about this movie but virtually everyone at college is constantly singing 'Let It Go' and talking about Frozen and I am fed up of not knowing what all the fuss is about. So I told my mum that I wanted to watch it and my parents got it me for my birthday. However, I am still yet to watch it but I am very excited to see it! I watched Tangled about a week ago and I absolutely loved it! I am obsessed with I See The Light and I cannot stop singing it! But Frozen was created by the creators of Tangled so no doubt it'll be amazing!

9. Jelly Beans

These were a completely random present from my mum and dad. They are just peach and strawberry jelly beans and I have never had them before as I don't eat a lot of sweets, I eat more chocolate. But they are really tasty together as its very fruity, sweet and freshing.

10. Katherine Pierce's Daylight Necklace

Now, if you know me by now, you will all know I am obsessed with The Vampire Diaries and I absolutely love their jewellery because it is so vintage and pretty and I just love it. I was given Elena Gilbert's vervain necklace for Christmas from my girlie Heather and for my birthday she gave me Katherine's daylight necklace and I have wanted this necklace for such a long time and I absolutely love it. It's so beautiful in real life and it's a beautiful blue gem as you can see from the photo. I think it'd be nice to wear out to a party and you wouldn't need any other jewellery because it is stunning.

11. Hair Accessories and Earrings

I got these from my other girlie Jess and really love them! I think the earrings are gorgeous, I pretty much wear them daily and you can just wear them with anything and they still look lovely! I mainly wear the hair band when I tie my hair up and pin it into place because I feel weird wearing head bands that go all the way round and having my hair down as I prefer my hair to sit around my face and not away. Also some daisy grips the same as the headband, I just love daisy things! I have so many daisy items: bag, clothes, shoes, jewellery etc. I haven't worn them yet but there will come a point when I shall.

12. I love... Strawberries & Cream

I was given these by my best friend Chloe and she also made me some birthday cupcakes and is meant to be giving me The Vamps CD but it hasn't made it's way to her yet! But either way, I haven't used the bath/shower cream yet as I have so many others to finish using. But the body butter is so nice, it makes your skin feel so soft and it smells like strawberry calpol which is just heavenly.

The hand cream is also to die for because it makes your hands moisturised and soft and your hands don't feel sticky just soft and nice. You don't need to squirt too much though or else there is just too much to rub into your skin, but even when I used to much it still wasn't too overpowering or sticky etc. It also lasts for ages because when you wash your hands you can still feel it on your skin and bearing in mind that was a few hours later; it keeps your hands nice and soft for hours.

13. Reb'l Fleur by Rihanna

Next gift is from my good friend Charlie and I already have Nude by Rihanna and I love it, so I fancied trying another one! I do want to get Rogue by Rihanna. Also Katy Perry's Killer Queen: Oh So Sheer at some point before it doesn't sell anymore. But this smells beautiful! It is summery, fresh and floral and it is so lightweight. It is not an overpowering perfume and I could smell it all day. It doesn't smell that great when you first spray it on because it is strong and a bit much but after about 10 minutes it fades out into a beautiful floral smell.

14. Beauticology Bath

These were from my friend Lana and I haven't smelt or even tried these yet but they look adorable! So looking forward to using these!

15. Turkish Delight

These were from my good buddy Reece and I love a bit of Turkish Delight every so often. I also was given a Chocolate Orange from my other good buddy Tom but I already ate that on my actual birthday!

16. Sweet Pea & Honeysuckle Shower Gel and Body Cream

This was from a family friend and I haven't smelled these yet either but I assume they'll be lovely.

17. Nail Varnish and Nail Beads

I got these from my cousin, auntie and uncle and they're just some glittery nail varnishes, a plain coloured nail varnish and some coloured beads.

18. Newlook Bag

I was also given this bag for my birthday from my other auntie, uncle, and cousins. I absolutely love it! I just find it so classy and grown up. I've been using it for college recently as I don't have loads to carry anymore because we've completed all our work and our final project so we're currently just chilling. This bag only becomes heavy when there is a lot in it, otherwise it is quite light. But I really love this bag!

There was also some other items I received: more chocolate, a Newlook voucher, and lots of money from family members, my parents, family friends etc.

Okay everyone, that was everything I got for my:  What I Got For My 17th Birthday! I am not trying to brag about any of this everyone, I just wanted to share with you what I got for my birthday! My next post will probably something to do with when I went to see Katy Perry! So stay tuned for that and I will talk to you all again soon!

Bye for now,

Katie
